About the event

Achieving social economic growth through water and sanitation development

The East African region is historically rich in water with healthy rivers, lakes and dams providing a bountiful raw water supply. Lake Victoria alone boasts 68 800 square km and 2750 cubic km of water. But in recent decades varying rainfall patterns and climate change have increased drought stricken areas and floods in others.

Added to the water sectors challenges are increasing populations, displaced persons and urban growth impacting on aging water sector infrastructure and the capacity to deliver water and sanitation in line with the Millennium Development goals. This calls for proactive water management techniques and use of applicable technology, as well as strategic managerial authority and funding of infrastructure development.

It is against this backdrop that the Water Utilities East Africa is focused on providing water professionals with a platform for discussion, learning and networking on strategic water management and technical aspects.
